Compliance Updates July 2024

Part 2B – Please make sure to review your Part 2B regularly and submit any updates to compliance@tlgadvisors.net. (Note if you do not have advisory clients and are not actively soliciting advisory services there is not a Part 2B on the website.)

IAR CE- If you are registered in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington, D.C., Wisconsin

These States require that you complete 12 hours of continuing education by 12/31/24. Of the 12 credits that must be completed, six (6) of those need to cover Products and Practice Content and six (6) need to cover Ethics and Responsibility Content.

If you are registered with FINRA with your Series 6 or 7, you may apply your FINRA regulatory element as your Products and Practice Content credits (6) through the FinPro system. There is a charge of $18 to do this, however that may be less than taking additional courses.

Here is a list of providers for IAR CE. From what I have seen, WebCE has a good package of $60 for all 12 credits or $30 for the 6 ethics credits.

Annual Attestation – The annual attestation will be sent out in August and expected to be completed by October.

Marketing Material Review – Please make sure any marketing materials, press releases, etcetera, are approved by compliance before they are used. Please use the following link to submit marketing material https://formstack.io/B7709 . If you have any questions, please send emails to compliance@tlgadvisors.net .

Business and Compliance Tip – Make sure you review the beneficiary designation with all your clients on an annual basis. We have seen several situations in the news recently where the beneficiary was deceased or where benefits were paid to an undesired beneficiary such as an ex-spouse.
